| The
Cottage
The Sawmiller's Cottage at "Orange Grove", Allynbrook - was
once used as a residence for the owner/manager of a sawmill, (eco-friendly
of course!) and is located on a working beef cattle property in the Allyn
river valley.

The
cottage is 'self-cater', has 4 bedrooms and sleeps 8 (3 rooms with Queen
beds, and 1 with
2 singles).
The large country kitchen is well equipped and comes with stove, microwave,
fridge, toaster, jug and many extras. The crockery and cutlery are of
the best quality as is the linen - all of which is provided.
In the large comfortable
lounge room and additional to the TV and video unit you will find a selection
of books, cassette tapes and indoor board games. Please bring your own
videos or, hire them from the local store.
On the large side
verandah you can play table tennis or try your hand at darts.
The front verandah is the ideal spot to sit and relax, soak up the scenery
- watch contented cattle graze and do absolutely nothing.
Town
Life
Our closest
town is East Gresford (approximately 7 kilometres away) and boasts a post
office, general store, hotel and bowling club. If you don't want to cook
or barbeque, there is a family restaurant at the Hotel and Chinese and
Australian meals are available at the Bowling Club. The takeaway at West
Gresford comes highly recommended too.
Finding Us
You can be here in approximately 2½ hours from Sydney via the F3
freeway, Maitland, Paterson, Gresford - (all on tar sealed roads!). See
Map
Allynbrook is especially well sited for you to enjoy the many features
of the area. These include local boutique wineries, Barrington Tops Rain-Forests,
Lostock Dam, Historical towns and much more.
The Allyn valley runs through the rolling hills making up the southern
slopes of the magnificent World Heritage listed Barrington Tops National
Park. It is the smallest of the three southern river valleys, (Paterson,
Allyn, and Williams) and its central location between the other valleys
makes it arguably the hidden "gem".
